Think having a driver’s license is the only qualification our milk drivers need? You may change your mind after reading this. Because transporting Friso Gold® milk and keeping it fresh on the road is such a huge responsibility. We need our drivers to be resilient, analytical and especially – have a keen sense of sight and smell. Check out why these qualities are essential for our drivers’ day-to-day.
It’s tough to be on the road for hours at a stretch. That’s why our drivers need extra staying power behind the wheel. Following strict hygiene practices, it’s also his job to send his milk tank for cleaning at least once every 24 hours.
At the farm, he makes a beeline for its milk tank. As our first custodian of milk quality, he needs to make sure that the milk has been stored at no higher than 4oC. Drawing a milk sample, he checks its colour and smell. Satisfied, he then brings it for further lab tests.
Now that he’s happy with its quality, our driver loads the milk into his truck. After filling his tank from three to four farms, he drives to the nearest factory located less than 70km away. His route is always planned carefully to ensure that the milk is delivered at peak freshness.
At the factory while the milk is still inside the tank, our driver performs an antibiotics test and other necessary checks – just to be absolutely sure. The milk is only unloaded into the factory’s tank when it passes the required tests.
From checking and testing the milk to preserving its goodness on the road, our drivers do more than just travel from farm to factory. Read more articles below to understand our full quality process.
